Moments from the stage

Every event leaves its mark. Here I gather moments from recent performances - evenings where drums, fire, dance and music came together into one memorable experience. A few of those stories are below.

Fire, rhythm and movement at Kaarsilla Kinnisvara's anniversary

15-minute mini-production

Kaarsilla Kinnisvara's 30th anniversary celebration became a special, magical moment at Lodjakoda by the Tartu river, when drummer Silver Ulvik and the fire dancers of Surya Fire Studio took the stage.

The mini-production combined powerful drum rhythms, the magic of fire, energetic movement and beautiful melodies. Silver Ulvik's live drumming gave the performance a powerful rhythmic foundation, to which the fire dancers answered with bright, dynamic movement. Fire, music and choreography wove into one whole, offering the audience both a visual feast and an emotional experience.

The riverside Lodjakoda created a distinctive atmosphere for the performance - flames drawn against the darkness, driving rhythms and the dancers' elegant movement made the 15-minute production truly memorable.

Ancient Lights Night at Ulge's small boat harbour

30-minute mini-production

At Ulge's small boat harbour, the continuation of the sauna festival took on a special and magical meaning in the form of the Ancient Lights Night (muinastulede öö). The evening's climax was a 30-minute mini-production weaving together primeval runic song, fire, dance and Silver Ulvik's wild drum rhythms.

It all began with the women's singing. Their runic songs called the men to the harbour, and soon torch-lit boats appeared out of the darkness. The men rowed across the water singing, bringing with them fire and a festive sense of anticipation. Together with the women the fire was lit - as if uniting water, earth, fire and people into one single moment.

Then the quiet, mystical mood turned into a powerful festival of rhythm and fire. Silver Ulvik's drums charged the air with wild energy, answered by the dancers with their forceful, mesmerising movement. The voices of the runic singers, the primeval power of the drums, the dance and the glow of the fire created a production that carried something very old and at the same time entirely contemporary.

For one evening, Ulge harbour became a place where the sea, fire, music and people came together - to celebrate life, the end of summer, and an ancient tradition that unites us through the night of fires.
